If you’re going from a cool and dry environment into a warm and moist one (going to a swim meet in the winter or leaving a cruise ship on an excursion), condensation can form on the camera and lens. They need to warm up first, so try putting them in a plastic bag for the first 10 or 15 minutes. That way the condensation will form on the outside of the bag, instead of on your camera gear.
