Don't wait for your child's turn on stage, during your child's graduation ceremony. Pre-plan your shot by watching as other graduates get their diplomas. You can pre-focus and take some test shots to check exposure and composition. When it's your son's or daughter's turn, start shooting before he or she is on the podium so you get a sequence of frames.
